The UK partners in the Eldicare project are running an event in Birmingham on 20th November 2019 which will help to celebrate Carers Rights Week, an annual event which raises awareness of issues affecting carers.

Eldicare flyer1The partners, Age Concern Birmingham and Staffordshire University, will be giving a public presentation about our project in the community café run by Age Concern. Dr Edward Tolhurst will provide an update about the Eldicare project in which he will talk about the progress of the project so far and the shared experience across the European partners. Dr Tolhurst will talk about the main findings of the research so far which includes the feedback from carers and care agencies who were asked for their views and experiences about carer training. These findings were discussed at a recent meeting of Eldicare partners which took place at Staffordshire University’s Lichfield campus. The research is being analysed to inform the partners in our aim to design and set up a common curriculum for training carers in the elderly care sector.

The Eldicare project has been developed in response to the ageing population right across Europe and the commitment to providing the carers of the future with the best skills and knowledge for their caring roles.
